Paget was born Paget Valerie Brewster on November 10, March 1969 in Concord, Massachusetts, United States. Her father, Galen Brewster, worked as a school administrator while her mother, Hathaway Brewster, worked as a civil servant. Paget has a younger brother named Ivan.

Growing up, his first interest was design; she wanted to become a designer. After graduating from high school, she moved to New York City where she enrolled in Parsons School of Design, a private art and design school. As a freshman, her interest shifted to acting, and she left design school to pursue a career in acting. She then moved to San Francisco where she enrolled at the Jean Shelton studio and began taking acting classes.

Her first television appearance was notably on a late night show called the Paget Show which she hosted. The show took place at the San Francisco Bay Arena between 1994 and 1995. Paget’s first television series debut was in the acclaimed NBC series Ami, where she played Katty. Her role in the show really made her stand out as the show quickly became very famous. The same year, she also starred in the film Let’s Talk About Sex playing the role of Michelle.
