Lou Adler is an American music producer, songwriter, and film director. He is best known for producing the classic albums of The Mamas & The Papas, Carole King, and Cheech & Chong. He also directed the cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Adler was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 13, 1933. He began his career in the music industry in the 1950s, working as a songwriter and producer for various labels. He was instrumental in the success of The Mamas & The Papas, producing their first two albums and writing several of their hit songs. Adler went on to produce albums for Carole King, Cheech & Chong, and other artists. He also directed the cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975.
