Lauren Giddings (born April 18, 1984 – died June 26, 2011) was an American Law Student from Takoma Park, Maryland. Back in 2011, she became national news after her torso was discovered in the garbage near her apartment.
A man named Stephen McDaniel convicted for the crime. In fact, he himself admitted to strangling and dismembering Lauren in 2014. Later, he was sentenced to life in prison with a chance for parole in 30 or so years.

Recently, on October 11, 2019, Stephen McDaniel again applied to open his case again for the trail but the judge denied his request. This time the killer try to prove that police investigation violated his rights.
He accused them of not advising him of his rights during that period. According to the source, he never went to trial because he pleaded guilty in spring 2014. During the investigation session, Stephen confessed about slaying the law student.
